Take a pinch of music, buckets of comedy, bags of sport and sprinkles of panto magic – and you have the new Autumn/Winter Season 2015 at Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre.
As the temperature starts to drop and holidays become a distant memory – it’s time to turn the attention to the exciting shows ahead at the city’s historic Epstein Theatre.
The 100 year old, iconic venue on Hanover Street has established itself on the city’s live entertainment circuit since it reopened in May 2012. It continues to attract national and household names to the theatre as part of their regional and national tours – and this new season is no different with the diverse choice of shows on offer.
The new season programme has shows to please all family members including comedy, music, sports personalities, opera, variety, and not forgetting the all-important Christmas Panto.
Sport has become a popular topic with Epstein audiences. This season includes Ned Boulting’s Breaking News show on 22nd September, when he is joined by Richard Moore and Tim Moore to discuss how and why the Tour de France has become the biggest annual sporting event in the world; why Britain has become obsessed with cycling and what life is really like on a cycling tour. Join Everton and England football legend Bob Latchford: A Different Road on 24th September when he launches his autobiography. Bob will talk about his life in football before taking questions from the audience and signing copies of his new book.
Opera fans can look forward to the passionate love story of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly on 26th September. Heritage Opera, the North West’s professional touring opera company, come to the Epstein Theatre for the first time. Sung in Italian with English subtitles, the opera features a cast of ten singers, accompanied by a seven-piece orchestra ensemble.
Enjoy an intimate evening with comedy actor John Challis on 30th September with this show, Only Fools And Boycie. He will reveal secrets from the set and anecdotes about one of the all-time greatest comedy shows, Only Fools and Horses, before he meets fans on the evening. Patrick Kielty takes to the open road for this Help tour and comes to the Epstein Theatre on 9th October to entertain audiences with this quick comedy timing when he focuses on a modern rulebook for love, life and happiness.
An evening with China Crisis on 17th October will see this ever popular 1980s band perform their classic album, Flaunt The Imperfection. Relive their hit songs which saw the band spend 92 weeks in the charts.
New comedy Dirty Dusting can be seen from 12th to 15th October. A cleaning business suddenly finds itself with a different type of clientele. The cast includes Crissy Rock and plenty of laughs are guaranteed.
Following two sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 and 2014, Beardyman presents the debut U.K. tour of his critically acclaimed show, One Album Per Hour on 28 November. This unique and skilful combination of comedy and music is not to be missed.
Nineties’ Liverpool band Space take to the Epstein stage on 4th December with iconic hits including Female Of The Species, Neighbourhood, Me And You Versus The World, and The Ballad of Tom Jones.
No festive programme would be complete without a magical Christmas pantomime filled with music, laughter and plenty of sparkle – and not forgetting Shetland ponies and a live band. Epstein Theatre Liverpool welcomes LHK Productions with family favourite Cinderella from 10th December 2015 to 3rd January 2016. A star-studded cast includes model and actor Calum Best as Prince Charming, Grease Is The Word’s Alison Crawford as Cinders, and Merseybeat legend Beryl Marsden as the Fairy Godmother.
Epstein Theatre General Manager Rebekah Pichilingi commented, “It’s always an exciting time when we reveal the new season programme – and the Autumn/Winter programme always proves particularly popular as we head towards the festive season.
“We strive to deliver a diverse choice of shows and events which will appeal to all members of the family, and the season ahead does exactly that. We always look for shows to engage new audiences and introduce them to our stunning venue, and I’m positive that we will welcome newcomers to the Epstein through this programme.
“Music, comedy and sport are a way of life in Liverpool, and we have a fantastic choice of all at the Epstein – which will be followed by the season highlight, our Christmas pantomime Cinderella. We look forward to welcoming LHK Productions back this festive season for the third year running and what promises to be a stunning show.”
