Liverpool Sound and Vision Rating 7.5/10
Into the arena must come the one who the Gods decree must be the seen as the fortunate and the brave, the audience acting upon the very whims of their Caesar and his ready to poise and give proclamation with a single turn of his thumb; it is the scene of many an epic battle, the young rubbing shoulders with the vastly experienced and the local favourites who carry the crowd with every move…it’s almost as if time never truly moves on.
For the Roman arenas read the beauty and the tranquillity of spirit offered by the organisers of Liverpool Calling. The event which has become every part of the diary and scene and with rightful admittance, not only host the big name act and the local hero but also the chance for a younger band, full of dreams and burgeoning musical muscle, to hone their talent and have the iconic feel of St. Luke’s and its historical values seep into their hearts and their souls.
For Wirral based band Vynce, such an opportunity was never going to go to waste and the dramatic sense of the eternal shaking hands with the ethereal was in full view as Time seemed to give the group the right sense of occasion in which to show just how much muscle lived within the young souls.
The music on offer, via songs such as Bellyache, Fall For You, April Showers and the new single Lust all pointed in one very big direction. As usual the infectious delight that is the music of the natural home of pop culture has once more infected another passing spirit and that there is another young band to nurture and keep close to the heart as they grow and spread their lyrical wings.
Vynce has that precious commodity denied so many, the quality of care and time and whilst the former may be a tough demanding foreman, its command is absolute when offering the opportunity of growth. It is an opportunity that for many who caught their performance at this year’s Liverpool Calling would surely find hard to resist.
