Christmas has come early as writer Dave Kirby and an all-star Liverpool cast officially launched the return of the smash hit adult comedy Dreaming of a Barry White Christmas.
The show that stormed EchoTwo @ Liverpool’s Echo Arena for five nights last Christmas returns by popular demand for 2014, this time, for an extended three week run in the intimate surroundings of the Echo Arena’s sister venue, The Auditorium. Dave Kirby’s grown-up festive treat will run from Monday 15th December to Saturday 3rd January 2015 and tickets are on sale now.
It is the first penned Christmas show from renowned Liverpool playwright Dave Kirby, whose hilarious hit shows include: Lost Soul, Council Depot Blues, Reds and Blues and Brick up the Mersey Tunnels. Dreaming of a Barry White Christmas played to pack houses and to critical acclaim on its premiere run, this time it plays at the Arena’s impressive state-of-the-art Auditorium. It will be the first Christmas show staged at the 1,300-seater venue, which Mr. Kirby has labelled, ‘An untapped, intimate gem of a theatre’.
The show will continue with its much-loved 2013 cast which starred Liverpool’s most prestigious home grown talent – Andrew Schofield (Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels, Lost Soul, Reds and Blues, Blood Brothers), who is due to star in the I.T.V.1 drama Cilla, the life story of Liverpool legend Cilla Black as her uncle. Alan Stocks (Reds and Blues, Scouse Pacific, Little Scouse on the Prairie) and Paul Duckworth (Reds and Blues, Scouse Pacific, Slappers and Slapheads) both regular names at the new Everyman Theatre since its re-opening, Lenny Wood (Lost Soul, Night Collar, Nightmare on Lime Street) and the hilarious Gillian Hardie and Keddy Sutton (Scottie Road the Musical) who have just been voted amongst the top ten best shows at Edinburgh Festival 2014.

Dreaming of a Barry White Christmas is a ‘Scouse Scrooge’ themed adult comedy. Original 1970’s hits include Barry White’s Love’s Theme, Can’t Get enough of your Love Babe and It May Be Winter Outside.
Thomas Minge (Andrew Schofield) owns a small, dilapidated warehouse in Liverpool. He despises everything – happiness, laughter, modern music, spending money – but most of all he hates Christmas. Meanwhile, his four drunken, dysfunctional employees can’t wait to start the festive season! When they find out they’re about to be sacked by their miserable employer they set out to discover a way to ensure their survival. They soon uncover a few 1970’s skeletons in Thomas’s dirty closet, including old platform shoes, a load of Viagra and the mysterious Hairy Mary! The arrival of a weird deranged tramp ensures some crazy festive hilarity!
What is Thomas Minge’s secret? What is he hiding? Why does he hate Christmas so much? Why does he regularly swill carol singers? Perhaps the legendary Walrus of Love himself, Barry White, holds the key.
Get yourself down to the wonderful and intimate Auditorium at the Echo Arena this Christmas and make this show your first, your last, your everything!
