British Comedy Award winners and B.A.F.T.A. nominees Cardinal Burns have announced their first-ever national tour, a 30-date run starting at the Soho Theatre on 8 September 2014 and calling at Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre on Thursday 2nd October.
From Rachel and Yumi to Banksy, Turkish Cabbies and the Office Flirts, join Cardinal Burns for their mix of obscure, hilarious and dark characters, hot on the heels of the brand new series of their B.A.F.T.A. nominated television show.
Cardinal Burns are multi award-winning sketch and character duo Seb Cardinal and Dustin Demri-Burns, who won widespread acclaim for their debut T.V comedy series, Cardinal Burns, which first aired on E4 in 2012. After meeting at film school in Edinburgh, Seb and Dustin established themselves as sketch writers/performers on the comedy circuit before really making their mark with their critically acclaimed self-titled show at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2009. They went on to achieve sell out runs at London’s Soho Theatre and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, as well appearances at Latitude, Leeds and Reading music festivals.
In 2011 they began working on their first television series from which they received three British Comedy Awards nominations in 2012 – the most-ever for first-time nominees – eventually walking away with Best Sketch Show, whilst scooping two Broadcast Awards and a Loaded Lafta in the same year. In 2013 they were nominated for a B.A.F.T.A. and the Rose d’Or award for comedy.
As well as their own series, they have appeared together in Steve Coogan’s Saxondale (B.B.C. Two), whilst individual credits include Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa (StudioCanal), I Give It a Year (Working Title), Kill Your Friends (Altitude Films), Psychobitches (Sky Arts), Life’s Too Short (B.B.C. Two), Spy (Sky1) and The Mimic (C4).
Such was the success of series 1 of Cardinal Burns, series 2 will return to television screens on Channel 4 at the end of April – the first show to transfer from E4 in over 10 years.
Tickets for the Cardinal Burns tour are now on sale and are priced at £16.50 in advance or £18.50 on the door. Tickets are available from the Epstein Theatre Box office or by telephone on 08448884411
