Last Christmas, Peter Pan was officially the hottest show in town, smashing box office records, and this year’s Easter panto Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs became yet another critically acclaimed success. However, things are set to get even bigger this Christmas as Regal Entertainments LTD are delighted to announce that family favourite, Jack and the Beanstalk – the biggest panto of them all – is set to take centre stage at St Helens Theatre Royal in a colossal Christmas show, running Friday 5th December 2014 to Sunday 11th January 2015.
As always, a dazzling line-up will bring this much loved story to life and Regal Entertainments are pleased to announce that singing sensation Linda Nolan, Emmerdale actor Kurtis Stacey, and Waterloo Road regular Abby Mavers will take to the Theatre Royal stage for the very first time.
Chantelle Nolan, Theatre Manager said: “It seems that each year our pantos get bigger and better and I usually worry about how we’re going to outdo ourselves, but this year, I think we’ve got something really special on our hands. All three of our celebrity stars bring something unique to the show – Kurtis is drop-dead gorgeous and a talented actor, Abby is full to the brim with scouse sass and Linda is showbiz royalty – I feel like Christmas has come early with these three on board!”
Linda Nolan is known as one of the members of 70s pop phenomenon, The Nolans – alongside her sisters Anne, Denise, Maureen, Bernie and Coleen. Her wealth of experience in show business has embraced hit records, international television shows, major world concert tours and appearances with the world’s most popular superstars. After forging a successful stage career, starring as Mrs. Johnston in the West End production of Blood Brothers and its subsequent U.K. Tour, Linda returned to the limelight with her stint in Celebrity Big Brother 2014 where her antics divided the nation, reaffirming why she is known and loved as the ‘Naughty Nolan’.
Merseyside’s Abby Mavers – known by millions across the nation for her breakout role as the glamorous yet gifted Waterloo Road student Dynasty Barry – will be joining a Regal Entertainments’ production for the very first time as Princess Jill. Previously trained in Liverpool’s Everyman and Playhouse Youth Theatre, Abby’s star began to rise under the mentorship of Theatre Royal’s regular director Sylvie Gatrill and she’s sure to bring a double dose of regional wit to this cracker of a show as she returns to her hometown to perform at the Theatre Royal for the very first time.
From one current star of Waterloo Road to a past pupil of the B.B.C. Soap, former Emmerdale regular Kurtis Stacey is best known as heartbreaker Alex Moss in I.T.V.’s award winning soap. A regular on television screens; he has appeared in smash hit series Waterloo Road and Hollyoaks, Kurtis graduated from Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and trained at Hugh Baird College and is part of the Liverpool Network Theatre. Having treated the boards of many theatres in the region, Kurtis will add a stint at the Theatre Royal to an already impressive resume as he steps into the role of Jack.
Jack and the Beanstalk tells the rags to riches story of a boy who sells the family’s cow for a handful of beans, getting him into a lot of trouble with his poor mother. The story takes a magical twist when the beans sprout into a magnificent beanstalk that reaches right up to a mystical land high in the sky. Follow Jack on his gigantic journey up the beanstalk this Christmas as he discovers geese with golden eggs, a magic harp and of course has a close encounter with a very hungry giant. But Jack better beware, as the villainous Mrs Fleshcreep is hot on Jack’s heels and looking to stop him every step of the way!
Jack and the Beanstalk will join Regal Entertainments’ long line of critically acclaimed smash hit seasonal productions, which are always chockfull of glitz, glamour, songs, dance, family filled fun, silly antics and slapstick comedy; the magical ingredients which have made them the must see shows of the year. With an all-star cast in the bag the Theatre Royal is taking panto to never before seen dizzying heights with Jack and the Beanstalk; a massive festive production suitable for the whole family.
