Renowned Company, Lady Parts Theatre, To Bring Laura-Kate Barrow’s Latest Work To The Lantern Theatre.

The story of a mother, her daughter, her sister and a mouse consumed by a lion with a beautiful mane.

Lady Parts Theatre showcases more strong roles for women in this drama about family relationships, and what happens when they break down.

Because She Loved the Lion is the latest work from Everyman and Playhouse Writer on Attachment Laura-Kate Barrow. It is directed by Peter Mitchelson and performed by Esther Dix, Sarah Keating and Nuala Maguire. It premieres in Liverpool before heading to venues around the North West and eventually to the Brighton Fringe. It is produced with the support of Liverpool Lantern Theatre.

A collection will be made at each performance for Refuge – the domestic abuse charity. The charity’s advice has been invaluable throughout the re-drafting process.

Lady Parts Theatre was formed in 2013 with the mission to create and promote strong roles for women; Lady Parts already boasts some of Liverpool’s most exciting new actors, writers and directors as associates. Lady Parts have produced two sell-out showcase events Legend and Assemble as well as co-producing the show Bump at 24:7 Theatre Festival and Trolley-Shaped Bruise at the Unity Theatre. The company is delighted to continue working closely with Liverpool Lantern Theatre.

Laura-Kate Barrow  a is current Writer on Attachment at Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatres where she has written for The Grid, Revolution, The Moon Landings, Paper Town and The Incident Room. Recent productions have included Buns and Begonias (Library Theatre) Bump (24:7 Theatre Festival) and Trolley Shaped Bruise (unity Theatre- Making Art).
