Action Transport’s Theatre Latest Production, Dreams of Revenge: A Transatlantic Collaboration, to Be Performed In Schools This March.

For the last year, budding writers at Action Transport Theatre, based in Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port and Steppingstone, based in Minnesota, U.S.A., have been working together to tackle the international subject of bullying.

Six young people from the local company’s Young Writers group were selected to write a new play alongside young writers from across the Atlantic. Using Skype, Facebook and email they were mentored by award-winning playwright Writer Kevin Dyer.

The end result Dreams of Revenge is an exploration of what it means to be bullied, witness bullying and even be the bully, told by young people from both sides of the Atlantic. The story is a rich, funny and moving exploration of bullying from the perspective of those closest to it, exploring the less obvious and understood aspects of bullying. The cast have been selected from aspiring actors currently studying at West Cheshire College. Richard Hitchler, Stepping Stone Theatre’s Artistic Director says, “Several years ago I had an idea for young playwrights to come together to write a play. The concept for the creation of the play came about after meeting with folks from Action Transport Theatre in Ellesmere Port, England.”

One of the young American writers Chandler, is travelling all the way from the U.S.A. to Ellesmere Port to watch the performances at Whitby Hall Theatre.

Dreams of Revenge: A Transatlantic Collaboration will run from the 17th – 28th March at schools and theatres across Ellesmere Port.

Dreams of Revenge is written by local young writers Olivia Andringa, Katy Case, Charlie Hughes, Lucy Linford, Tom Murphy and Theo Smith.
