What the Ladybird Heard makes the leap from page to stage, as Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks’ children’s favourite comes to the Playhouse this spring. A barnyard heist to steal the prize cow is foiled by the unlikeliest hero, as the Ladybird comes to save the day at the Liverpool Playhouse from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd February.
Two crafty robbers, one tiny ladybird, and a whole farmyard of fun! When burglars Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len hatch a cunning plan to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow, it’s up to the Ladybird – the tiniest, quietest creature of all – to save the day.
Join the woolly sheep, the hairy hog, the fat red hen and the dainty dog in this brand new stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks’ colourful farmyard adventure which features live music, puppetry, plenty of audience participation and lots of laughs.
Following recent productions of Spot’s Birthday Party, The Snail and the Whale, and The Ugly Duckling, the Everyman and Playhouse continues its family friendly programme. Including live music, puppetry, and plenty of audience participation, What the Ladybird Heard promises to be the perfect way to introduce children to live theatre.
To add to the experience, this magical new show will be accompanied by a range of activities for children to enjoy at the Playhouse, including a treasure hunt, colouring-in games, and face painting to name a few.
With wonderful illustrations from Lydia Monks, What the Ladybird Heard is one of Julia Donaldson’s most popular stories for children. The former Children’s Laureate’s other works includeThe Gruffalo and Room on the Broom, with past stage adaptations of The Gruffalo’s Child and The Snail and the Whale proving popular with Playhouse audiences.
