Music nights at the Unity are always very special with the emphasis on promoting local, live talent and giving artists a real platform to show what they’re all about. On Thursday 30th January the theatre is highlighting
Three Of A Kind, an evening of jazz, blues and soul rock ‘n roll to show the more electric side of this very talented city and headlined by the sensational Dave O’Grady, a man whose voice is nothing short of brilliant.
Big on the U.K. and U.S. blues scene, Dave O’Grady is fresh off a world tour, with another scheduled for April – October, in support of The Black Crowes’ founder and guitarist, Rich Robinson, supports with Irish Blues artist, Sean Taylor and U.K. blues titan Marcus Bonfanti.
The Dublin-born, Liverpool-based blues artist has expanded and developed his authentic, whiskey-soaked Americana/Blues sound into grooving electric blues riffs, energetic rock n’roll and wistful ballads with echoes of The Black Keys, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac.
Also on the bill is Ben Hughes and Band. Influenced by gypsy jazz and Prog rock, Ben has toured nationally and internationally and has performed alongside icons such as Sir Paul McCartney and Fleetwood Mac. Guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel acted as a musical mentor to Ben teaching him techniques and tricks of the trade whilst allowing Ben to support him on tours around Europe, advancing his reputation as a formidable guitarist and songwriter.
Finally The Roscoes and their soulful rock ‘n’ roll with summery-vibes will have the audience enthralled from the start of the evening. These young gentlemen are hot on the scene in Liverpool and have already enjoyed slots at all major venues in and around their hometown and further afield with the likes of country/rock outfit Brother & Bones (U.K.) and indie-upstarts Shy Nature (U.S.A.). With the imminent release of their single and video gaining interest from nationwide labels, management and radio stations with an E.P. also on the way, don’t miss this upcoming energetic Liverpool band.
Tickets for Three of a Kind are priced at £10.
