Clapperboard U.K. is delighted to host a special fundraising event with acclaimed writer Kevin Sampson (Awaydays, Powder, The Killing Pool) in conversation with Liverpool Football Club legend John Barnes.
This very special evening will give the audience a unique experience in to the life of one of Britain’s most talented footballers, which also projected him into his famous acting role in Gurinder Chadha’s award winning feature film, Bend It Like Beckham and as a political raconteur.
So, how did a young Jamaican teenager transform his life in to becoming an international football player and manager? That’s just one of the many questions that Kevin Sampson will be asking John Barnes on Tuesday 3rd December at Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre.
John Barnes said, “I am delighted to participate in this event to raise much needed funds for Clapperboard’s 2013-14 youth project. In 2007 I participated as a jury member for the Clapperboard Awards Ceremony and was impressed with the short films produced by young people and how the project has gone from strength to strength.”
Kevin Sampson said: “I’ve been lucky enough to work with Clapperboard from the start, so this event with one of Liverpool’s top three greatest players of all time is a fitting way of highlighting and celebrating the work Clapperboard does in the city.”
Clapperboard Director, Maureen Sinclair said, “It’s a huge bonus and honour for us to have acclaimed writer Kevin Sampson in conversation with John as I’ve helped to promote Kevin’s work since Awaydays. I had the pleasure of meeting John when I produced the B.A.F.T.A. regional premiere of Bend it Like Beckham and he participated in a question and answer session after the screening in Bradford. I was moved by his interaction with the audience and how much he gave, so I’m sure that the audience will be as captivated as I was then”.
Tickets for Kevin Sampson in conversation with John Barnes on Tuesday 3rd December are priced at £12.50 with concessions available at £10 which Includes post-event complimentary drink and food at Ma Egerton’s Stage Door.
