In March 2014 Royal Court Liverpool will be bringing back a show that was a smash hit two years ago. Once a Liverpool audience has had a chance to see it then it is off to Dublin!
YNWA – The Official History Of Liverpool Football Club tells the story of one of the world’s most famous football clubs and has been written by one of its biggest fans.
The show’s writer, Nicky Allt, has previously had massive success with the stage play One Night In Istanbul and L.F.C. related books such as The Boys From The Mersey as well as being co-writer of Liverpool’s most seen play of the last ten years – Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels. He has followed L.F.C. all over Europe for the last 40 years.
When the show ran at Royal Court Liverpool in 2011 it attracted rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.
The show tells stories of the glories on the fields of Anfield Road from Elisha Scott, Albert Stubbins and Billy Liddell to Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes and Steven Gerrard. With complete access to the L.F.C. archive and the full backing of Liverpool Football Club, Nicky Allt has brought together every major incident in the club’s 119 year history and created a show that will make you laugh, cry and cheer out loud.
Nicky Alt said, “The last time we did the History of The Club Show we met with brilliant reviews. Now the Club have endorsed and backed the show we are aiming to make it even better! This is the show we cannot wait for.”
Director Bob Eaton, who has enjoyed success at the Royal Court with Lennon, Our Day Out, Scouse Pacific and countless others, will also be working on the show. The full cast is still to be confirmed.
YNWA – The Official History Of Liverpool Football Club runs at Royal Court Liverpool from Friday 7th to Saturday 27th March 2014 and tickets are available from £13. The show then transfers to Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre from Wednesday 7th to Saturday 12th April 2014.
