The Capstone To Host Two Nights Of Theatre.

Take a break from the Capstone’s extensive music programme and immerse yourself into theatre as The Capstone is delighted to welcome two theatre companies this autumn. Uncanny Theatre will be presenting the fringe production of Instructions for a Better Life on Thursday 24th October, followed by one of Shakespeare’s most popular works as Traffic of the Stage present Much Ado About Nothing on Thursday 14th November.

An original performance that displays an avant-garde story, Instructions for a Better Life is part “choose-your-own-adventure”, part shadow play and part manic romp through human psychology. Leapt into action looking at what society believes without question and attempt to pick out the oddity of what we think we think; this company stretches logic to breaking point in this show that is visually arresting, absurdly funny and full of low-tech interventions. This is a show that is all about us and everyone, thinking that something is true when it isn’t.

An outrageous evening of swordfights, flamenco dancing, romantic guitar music and cloak and dagger intrigue, Much Ado about Nothing tells the cautionary tale of love and self-deception in 18th century Spain with its colour, passion, Shakespearean humour and energy where pride comes before a fall and all the characters have lessons to learn. Starring Judy Bowker (Clash of the Titans) and Harry Meacher (The Scarlet Pimpernel) as the Bard’s sparring lovers, Beatrice and Benedick the Bachelor, sparks fly, tempers flare and heady emotions are unleashed in this lively period production with its stirring action, music, dancing and exciting lighting and sound effects.

With a choice from contemporary to a best loved classic, there is something for everyone with these two fantastic theatre performances at the Capstone Theatre.

Tickets for Uncanny Theatre’s Instructions For a Better life are priced at £9.50 and £11.50. Tickets for Traffic of the Stage’s Much Ado About Nothing are priced at £9.50 and £11.50.
