TreeTop has been announced as the next performer to play the Liverpool Music Awards ceremony sponsored by Liverpool City Council on August 25th at St George’s Hall.
TreeTop, also known as 25-year-old radiographer Craig Lamb from West Derby, is the winner of the Liverpool Echo’s competition to find an unsigned act to play the awards.
Liverpool Echo Music Writer and awards judge Jade Wright says, “When we launched our search to find an unsigned act to represent the ECHO at the Liverpool Music Awards, we were inundated with entries, but one stood out above the rest. TreeTop impressed us with his intricate layered harmonies and fresh-sounding demo. From all the entries we knew he was the one.”
His song Home will be performed as collaboration with the Sense of Sound choir at the red carpet event hosted by D.J. Janice Long at St George’s Hall.
“I wrote that song after a 15 hour night shift,” explains TreeTop. “It just came to me as I was on my way home from work and I recorded the demo in my living room. You can try to force songs to come to you, but for me the best ones just come naturally. The demo sounds quite rough but I recorded myself doing lots of harmonies to give an idea how it would sound with a choir.”
