The Casa on Hope Street has always been a place where like minded people can gather together and rail against social injustice. In a very unique city in the U.K. it is the most unique of meeting places. Now there is another reason to check out this hive of activity on the weekend of the 20th and 21st July when Burjesta Clowns, Alun Parry, Mimi Amore and a whole host of others will be performing in a weekend spectacular.
There are many acts to take in over the weekend including the Burjesta Clowns in the comic play The Belly of Merrie England in which the Burjesta Clowns arrive in Britain in search of wealth and good living. Follow them as they forlornly search through a British society in conflict and decline for ‘money hanging from the trees’; see them arrive in London expecting ‘streets paved with gold’ only to witness Thatcher’s funeral and a final bizarre showdown with the bankers of the City of London.
Also on over the weekend will be three exciting Burlesque acts including the amazing Mimi Amore. Live music will on show from Alex Solo of the Manchester band Frazer King who recently supported James, Liverpool’s own resident number one folk artist Alun Parry who will be performing songs from Woody Guthries’s songbook and Nicky McGrane of up and coming Liverpool band The Crystal Horses.
Finally the sensational Vanessa Booth will be performing a selection of songs from the newest musicals around.
Tickets for the event cost £5. To reserve tickets, telephone 07913 449 396 or you can pay on the door. For more information go to www.burjesta-theatre.co.uk or look on facebook at ‘Burjesta Theatre’.
