Take A Hint Theatre Company Present Tales That Time Forgot, a brand new musical, at Lantern Theatre Liverpool, as part of the returning, Shiny New Festival 2013, from 19th – 21st July.
In the future where libraries have become extinct, books have become fossils and the human race depends solely on televisions, electric gadgets and computer games, the young protagonist Bobby is desperate for knowledge, adventure and to rediscover the power of imagination that has long been missing from the world.
Rejected by her virtual reality loving mother, and her PlayStation 3000 and iPhone 64 obsessed friends, Bobby decides today is the day – she will enter the ancient, abandoned, creepy building in the outskirts of the city.
Inside Bobby discovers that the building isn’t quite what she had expected. This wasn’t any old building… this was a library. Excited by her discovery Bobby begins to slowly read the old books, which rouses the storybook characters from their long sleep. They tell how they became abandoned, how they are on the verge of extinction and explain the importance of stories and reading through songs and dialogue.
Spurred on by these exciting characters and wondrous tales, Bobby decides it is her mission to encourage the human race to read again and explains that stories and books can be saved if all children take part.
