Peter Grant is a Liverpool legend, possibly a version of a 21st century Renaissance man with the amount of knowledge that he gleaned over the years reporting on the city. Mr. Grant is an accomplished poet, certainly one of the finest in the city, a supporter of the arts and artists, a biographer and an artist of some incredible repute. Throughout his time in Liverpool most people who have had the upmost pleasure in meeting him are aware of most his activities but the artwork remains remarkably a secret to many, unless you have had the privilege of Peter showing them to you with great pride.
As with anything in the city to do with the art, to see an artist’s latest collection of work hung in a gallery brings new insight into the man and for the next few weeks Mr. Grant’s art is on display at The Domino Gallery in Upper Newington and was unveiled to great acclamation by gallery owner Felicity Wren and Peter himself.
Studded around the gallery are some exceptional pieces and some quite extraordinary art that quickly took on a part of Peter’s life, his interest in many subjects and in many different people for which seem timelessly captured in the art. Artwork such as Blue Angel Fish, Cartoon Footballer, Merseyside Hangover and Here Comes The Sun are all available to see in the gallery and certainly are worth seeing and purchasing.
The event was extremely well attended and provided great entertainment with the Deputy Lord Mayor Gary Millar giving a rousing and memorable speech during the evening.
Domino Gallery is open from Wednesday to Saturday and is certainly worth a visit at any time.
