Belinda O’Hooley (The Unthanks) and Heidi Tidow are the chamber-folk duo behind The Fragile, their genre-defying new album. Their debut Silent June was one of MOJO Magazine’s Top 10 Folk Albums of 2010.
Nominated for Best Duo at the 2013 B.B.C. Radio 2 Folk Awards, their beautifully unusual songs touch on everything from dark folk tales, ecology and cross-dressing historical figures through to the invisibility of the elderly and the global economy. Live, they are an irresistible blend of thought-provoking song, striking arrangements, sublime harmonies and cheeky Yorkshire banter.
Now the pair are set to return to Liverpool on Friday 26th April as they bring incredible music to the Rodewald Suite at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
Their music is infectiously good and weas one of the highlights of the Working Class Music Festival in 2009 when they performed their set at the Pickett. An incredible night that was enjoyed by all that were there, no doubt they will provide the same warmth and pleasure when they make their welcome return to Liverpool in April.
Tickets for O’ Hooley & Tidow are available from the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall Box office and are priced at £12.
