Edwyn Collins will release his eighth solo album, Understated, through his own label AED on Monday 25th March. The album has been produced and recorded by Collins and Seb Lewsley at their West Heath Yard studio. It is his first since Losing Sleep was released to widespread acclaim in September 2010. In the last year the former Orange Juice man has also begun work on a film about is life and music titled In Your Voice, In Your Heart. He will also be appearing at the Philharmonic Hall on the 20th April as part of a U.K. tour.
All songs on the album were written by Edwyn, except the Rod McKuen cover Love’s Been Good To Me. The album features the musicians Barrie Cadogan (Little Barrie, Primal Scream), James Walbourne (The Pretenders, Ray Davies, Pernice Brothers, Dead Flamingoes), Carwyn Ellis (Colorama, The Pretenders), Sean Read (The Rockingbirds, Dexys), David Ruffy (The Ruts, Dexys) & Paul Cook (The Sex Pistols).
The last 12 months have seen Edwyn concentrate on running his AED record label, produce records for Vic Godard, Colorama, Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs, Linden and London Mississippi with Seb Lewsley and begin work on the film with filmmakers Edward Lovelace & James Hall.
Both the night at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool and the new album are dates for the diary and something very cool to look forward to.
Tickets for Edwyn Collins’ night at the Philharmonic Hall on Saturday 20th April are available from the Box office or online at www.liverpoolphil.com. Tickets are priced at £17.50 and £23.50.
