Inua brought his last show, Black T-shirt Collection to the Unity theatre last year as part of FuelFest. A new piece that premiered there, it exceeded anything audiences could have hoped for – evocative, funny, moving and very cool it showcased Inua as a brilliant storyteller. Black T-Shirt Collectionwas so good it went on for a run at the National Theatre where it received critical acclaim.
Now Inua is returning to the Unity Theatre on March 13th and 14th with The 14thTale, an earlier show that debuted at London’s Arcola Theatre, won him a Fringe First award in Edinburgh and went on to a long run at the National Theatre.
“I’m from a long line of trouble makers, of ash skinned Africans, born with clenched fists and a natural thirst for battle, only quenched by breast milk.”
The hilarious exploits of a natural born mischief growing from the clay streets of Nigeria to the roof tops of Dublin, and finally to London, Fringe First winner Inua Ellamsvividly recreates his upbringing in deft and beautiful poetry, while challenging expectations of what it is to be a young, black male today.
Tickets for The 14thTale are available from the Unity Theatre Box office, by telephone 0844 8732888 or online on www.unitytheatreliverpool.co.uk
