The world of the teenager is a pretty daunting one. In some quarters demonised and others rightly lauded for their achievements in a world that is weighted against them. However even the most dedicated of teenagers can find themselves in a hole. From Thursday 31st January to Saturday 2nd February the Unity Theatre will be showing Philip Osment’s and 20 Stories High moving story, Whole.
Whole is a gritty, funny and uncompromising new play for teenagers and young adults- exploring sexuality, love, death and religion, with live music and spoken word. The story is inspired by an e-mail that went back and forth between theatre-company 20 Stories High and three teenagers about their friend Holly and in the development of the play, Julia Samuels (Director) and Philip Osment (Writer) worked with 20 Stories High youth theatre members to discuss, discover and explore the most poignant topics of the story: sexuality and religion.
20 Stories High are a Liverpool-based theatre company who create dynamic, challenging theatre which attracts new audiences. Working with the narrative and artistic influences of the young people they collaborate with, they are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what theatre is.
Tickets for Whole are available from the Unity Theatre Box office on Hope Place.
