Some of the amazing productions that have thrilled audiences during the year have included the incredible Waiting For Brando which starred Paul Duckworth and Carl Cockram, Jane McNulty’s Our Lady of the Goldfinches, a superb re-working of The Crucible, Spike Theatre’s hilarious The Games and Tmesis Theatre’s tour de force Wolf Red with the brilliant Elinor Randle.
The Unity looks to continue this into 2013 with the launch of their new season of productions. The new year sees the electrifying Big Wow return in their hit sell out show The Art of Falling Apart from January 9th till January 26th Robert Farquhar’s acclaimed play stars Matt Rutter and Tim Lynsky.
In April Perrier Award winner Will Adamsdale brings his new show, created with the Royal Court Theatre and producers Fuel, about a work-shy writer discovering a Victorian man living in the wall of his flat in The Victorian in the Wall.
20 Stories High are back following the success of touring Blackberry Troutface with the premiere of Whole (31 Jan – 2 Feb) which has been created with young people and examines sex, death, love, religion and dubstep!
Edinburgh successes feature heavily starting with the award-winning Clout Theatre’s How A Man Crumbled (8 Feb), and Daniel Bye (16 Feb) fresh from Northern Stage at St. Stephens brings his hilarious performance lecture The Price Of Everything. Fringe favourites and masters of physical theatre Idle Motion bring their Total Theatre Award nominated Borges and I (14 Mar), while Rhum and Clay return after stunning audiences with Shutterland in Spring 2012 bring their Edinburgh sell-out A Strange Wild Song (19 Mar).
The Unity Theatre isn’t just about great quality drama and superb comedy; part of its year is given over to the acoustic nights that are dotted throughout its calendar. On January 22nd the highly rated Robert Vincent will be at the Unity alongside The Midnight Ramble and Mike Loach and on the 9th of February the talent of T.J. and Murphy will be on show.
