The savoury gastronomic delight and combination of cooking, discussion and film was celebrated in all its finery as the Food for Real Film Festival ended its second day with a lively evening at Blackburne House.
The team behind the festival hosted the evening at Blackburne House on Hope Street which explored the Food for Real Women and the relationship that binds them all. The evening was started by the poetry of Curtis Watt and after introductions by Cathy Elliot, Becky Vipond and Clare Owens, the audience was treated to a double bill of superb handcrafted pies and a feature film titled Waitress.
The evening was beautifully dedicated to Sally Morris, the former co-director of Liverpool’s Black-E centre, who sadly passed away in the last year.
Amongst the highlights of the festival still to come over the next few days are films at the FACT centre on Wood Street, a spicy Honey Harvest Night Market at the John Archer Hall in Toxteth on Friday between 4pm and 7pm and a very special food and film night at Toxteth TV on Windsor Street on Saturday 24th.
