Hue And Cry, Big Country And Toyah Wilcox Amongst The Highlights Of New Season Of Music At Eric’s.

After Hue and Cry’s blistering set at the Philharmonic Hall as part of the tremendous evening of 80’s music in 2013 and the superb evening supplied by the brothers at Eric’s in 2012, it can be no surprise that the duo will be coming back to Liverpool to present another night of their excellent music on April 5th.

Hue and Cry are one of a number of high quality bands making their way to Eric’s in the coming months and chiefly amongst them is the great Big Country who will perform at Eric’s on March 1st. Big Country released their ninth studio album last year, the first since the sad and untimely death of lead singer and songwriter, Stuart Adamson in 2001. Big country broke massively worldwide with the release of the album’s classic singles Fields Of Fire, Chance and signature song In A Big Country, which went on to become massive worldwide hits, selling over 2 million copies and driving The Crossing to 3 prestigious Grammy nominations in the U.S.A.

Tickets for Big Country are priced at £20.

Born out of love for Jamaican sound clash, forged through a do it yourself punk-rock ethic and delivered with raw hip hop swagger, the unstoppable Babyhead sound is drawn from all quarters of the musical universe, in true Bristol fashion and the band will be performing at Eric’s on April 4th.  They have recorded three studio albums and have been a live phenomenon in the clubs and on the festival circuit, for a decade plus, rocking UK stages from Glastonbury to Fabric and worldwide from New York fashion week to Thailand’s Smileyfest. The band has supported a wide range of artists from Toots Hibbert to Breakestra attracting onstage collaborations from Ozomalti, Rodney P and Alice Russell.

Tickets for Babyhead are priced at £5.

Hue and Cry head back to Eric’s following their sell out show back in 2012.  Hue and Cry broke onto the U.K. music scene in the late 1980’s with the outstandingly successful albums Seduced and Abandoned and Remote. This period saw the band produce some of their most auspicious hit singles such as Labour of Love, Violently and Looking for Linda. Their compositions and performances by brothers Pat and Greg Kane took the best of American jazz and soul and made it hip and trendy. Supporting everyone from Madonna and U2 to Ray Charles and James Brown, they set the charts alight with a string of hit singles and albums in the late 1980s.
Tickets for Hue And Cry are priced at £17.50.

One of the most colourful artists to have ever graced the stage, Birmingham’s Toyah Wilcox comes to Eric’s on May 2nd. Toyah’s diverse career spans over 30 years of which music is a major component, having considerable chart success with hits such as It’s A Mystery, I Want To Be Free and Brave New World. She has amassed 13 top 40 singles, recorded 20 albums, toured live across the world. Alongside her on-going recording career, Toyah has also trod the boards with the lead role in the musical Anne Get Your Gun. She has also played iconic roles such as Monkey in 1979 The Who album-inspired film Quadrophenia and as Mad in the seminal punk epic Jubilee.

Tickets for Toyah Wilcox are priced at £15.

Ever since bulldozing his way onto the scene with unforgettable tracks like Cuddly Toy and Family Man in the late 80s, Andrew Roachford’s maverick take on music has spread far and wide.

Raised in south London to West Indian parents, as a child of the 70s and 80s, it’s no wonder that his music sounds the way it does. Born into a musical dynasty, his uncle Bill Roachford was a virtuoso saxophonist. The musical ball really started to roll however, when Andrew hit the road with his uncle. Andrew was Columbia’s biggest selling domestic act for over ten years. As if any more proof were needed, the fact that Roachford was approached by such luminaries as Michael Jackson and Chaka Khan to write songs, speaks volumes. Andrew Roachford comes to Eric’s on October 4th and tickets for this gig are priced at £10.

With other acts coming to Eric’s during the year, including The Mouse Outfit on Sunday 17th May, Nicola Willis & the Soul Investigator on May 29th, the coming months are looking as exciting as you could want in a night out in Liverpool with some very excellent music to come.

All tickets are available to purchase from Eric’s Box office, or online at www.ericsliverpool.com
